Aquaborne Team
The story of Aquaborne (meaning "derived from water") was inspired by the time when humans and animals once coexisted in harmony. Our ancestors used the gifts of nature by utilizing every part of an animal, or fish in their lives. They consumed the animal flesh, used hides to create shelter, and clothing, and sharp bones, and teeth to make weapons, and tools. Nothing was wasted because the entire animal was used. At the same time, nature managed to replenish its resources, and men had the opportunity to enjoy them without disturbing the delicate balance.
First in the US
The company plans to launch its first commercial-scale fish tanning facility in Sacramento that meets the US Government regulation standards. The production process will enable the company to bring its customers the ultimate leather experience.
No Chromium
Aquaborne's eco-safe tanning technique and know-how use only natural products and vegetable substances with absolutely no chemicals, such as Chromium 6 widely used in the traditional leather-making industry.
Sustainable sources
Regulated by some of the world's most stringent quality standards, Aquaborne's goal is to repatriate the US leather manufacturing with only 100% the US sustainable sources that have not been properly utilized to its full potential.
Why Aquaborne?
Aquaborne's goal is to promote and create a high-value market for premium fish leather worldwide.
Superior
We plan to produce an environmentally friendly aquatic leather product as a superior alternative to traditional leather and exotic skin products.
Efficient
100% of our supply of fish-skin is sourced only from the US aquaculture farms by-products.
Attractive
We believe consumers worldwide are seeking an aesthetically appealing leather alternative that is environmentally and socially conscious.
Eco-friendly
We use only eco-friendly tannins to treat our fish skins to achieve an exquisite high-end leather.
Flexible
Our proprietary technique produces soft and pliable leather that applies to many industries such as fashion, interior design, maritime, automobile, and medical.
Locally Made
We provide our customers with absolute traceability and the Aquaborne stamp, labeling it as 100% Made in the USA.
Our passion
Our passion was fueled by this amazing pre-historic species of Acipenseridae (Latin), commonly known as Sturgeon, which outlived dinosaurs by being able to adapt to the world's drastic climate changes. Just like our ancestors who honored the entire animal, we at Aquaborne wish to continue the practice of valuing every part of the nature-given resource, also known as nose-to-tail.
Aquaborne promotes sustainable upcycling by transforming discarded fish skins into exotic aquatic leather. The legacy of the species takes on a new form providing humans with materials which can be used in clothing, furnishings, and decor from the resources that otherwise would be disposed of as waste.

To take this concept even further to create "a complete circle of life", our company plans to contribute back to environmental conservation, by directing a portion of our proceeds from the sale of fish-leather towards releasing hundreds of fingerlings back into its native habitats to help repopulate wild-stock of endangered species.
Aquatic leather offers many advantages over traditional leather of sheep, cow, or pig skins. The products made from fish skin are much more superior than those from most mammals due to structural properties of its fibers. It is in many times stronger than animal hides of the same structural thickness and can withstand enormous pressure. The unique patterns and rich color schemes make the skin of fish a desirable material. Fish skin is soft to touch, elastic, waterproof and durable. By applying additional high-quality finishes, it has an elegant appearance. These types of leather properties are in high demand in the world market.
